I’ve been having a hell of a time with this year’s novel (as part of National Novel Writing Month), so I decided I needed to just get writing today and get it out of the way. Nicholas referred me, a few days ago, to a program called Write or Die, which basically forces you to write, or else. I set it to “Kamikaze Mode,” which starts deleting what you’ve written, word by word, if you pause for more than a couple seconds.
So, I put on an Oscar Peterson Quartet record (which also came from Nick), turned it up, and started pouring text into the box, typing ferociously in fear of blinking blood-red screen that would take all my work away from me.

I doubt any of what I wrote is any good, but by god it’s out there, and I’m done for the day.
